Juvenile

If a person is under the age of eighteen and commits a misdemeanor or a felony, a petition is filed against the minor in the juvenile court.  For certain serious crimes, a minor may be tried as an adult in the regular courts.

Since the purpose of juvenile court is primarily to rehabilitate the minor instead of punishing the minor, the juvenile court has more alternatives than the adult courts in terms of a disposition of the case.  Dispositions in juvenile court range from counseling programs for the minor to custody in the Youth Authority up to age twenty five.

If you or someone you know has been charged with a crime in the juvenile court, call the Law Offices of Dan Bacal at (619)588-2064 or click here for a FREE online case evaluation.  The initial consultation is free of charge. We accept payment plans and credit cards to handle your case.
